One of the top leisure activities for most of us is watching a movie. In my case, Netflix is where I go to look for some good movies to watch, but there are times that I feel to add a bit of excitement and a real thrill to so I look for documentaries to watch for. There are lots of good documentaries available out there especially on Netflix that are entertaining and overloads of information overwhelming for us because there are tons of choices and choosing the best to watch first is a struggle.
Here is the list of my 8 most entertaining documentaries to watch on Netflix that will surely give you the fun and thrill you’re looking to watch for. I find these not just entertaining but also full of knowledge that makes me look at things differently in a beneficial way.

This fascinating documentary is not just your average nature documentary, it’s about the unusual bond of friendship between the filmmaker Craig Foster and a young octopus living in a South African kelp forest. Their connection allows him the opportunity to discover the mysteries of her world.
My Octopus Teacher has received many nominations and awards since its release in 2020, which won the Oscar for Best Documentary in 2021. Watching this documentary not only maze and entertain me but also made me reflect much on humanity and nature.

A captivating documentary will make you think twice after you watched it. The Social Dilemma release in 2020 explores the dangerous impact of social networking on humans as social media has a great influence on our lives. The tech experts explain behind the scenes how everything from algorithms to A.I. controls our lives and turns on the sounding alarm about their creations. After watching this I feel the urge to figure out how to use social media without causing me any distress.
- Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened
It’s a spectacular documentary that explores the failed Fyre Festival of 2017 history of events on what happened when the paradisiacal party doesn’t go as planned, which promised a luxury music experience on a posh private island in the Bahamas but failed because of overconfident organizers and arrogant entrepreneur Billy McFarland that badly affected the employees, contractors and people who believe that this is going to be the great party in their life. This brought me thoughts about the endangerment of greed and how money quote as the root of all evil.
This is a fascinating documentary film released in 2017 by a cyclist and documentary filmmaker Bryan Fogel who uncovered a major Olympic cheating scandal and truth about doping involving a Russian scientist. The twists of revealing the reasons why cheating happens captivate me and feel like I’m watching a fiction film.
- Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution
An uplifting documentary about a summer camp or group of disabled teens back in the 1970s who build a movement for their disability rights and fight for accessibility legislation. It’s one of the best inspiring educational documentaries I have watched.
- Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness
A true-crime documentary about the life of mad zookeeper Joe Exotic. It’s seven-part limited series and each episode brings a colourful twist that makes you go after the next episode. After watching it I find myself did some detective work to find out if where are they now.
- Knock Down the House
This is a powerful political documentary about the four women democrats who run in the 2018 election hoping that they will be elected to Congress namely Amy Vilela, Cori Bush, and Paula Jean Swearengin and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez which is now an innovative standard-bearer after an against stiff Congressional campaign. It explains how and why they fight challenges to try their best to make a change in a government system. I feel that watching this movie is both entertaining and inspiring in a way that it makes me think if what I can accomplish if I would be given a chance like this.
- Chefs Table
This is a captivating and appetizing documentary about the most renowned chefs in the world who redefine gourmet food with innovative dishes and mouthwatering desserts. It also shows their story of determination and the process of their passion to create such masterpiece dishes into the table. Watching this makes me not just only crave some foods but also appreciate the work to put on making luscious dishes.
