Ingredients to Boost Your Metabolism in the Morning

Ingredients to Boost Your Metabolism

When you are starting on your weight loss journey it is important to know what kind of foods will help to kick start your day! Some foods contain chemicals and ingredients that help to boost your metabolism early on, which promotes the burning of energy. They will keep you feeling healthy and start your morning off right. Below I have compiled a list of five ways in which you can perfect your morning routine for a healthier you.

  1. Warm Lemon Water

This one keeps popping up in many different fad diets, but for good reason. This is a great start to your day and should be the first thing you do when you wake up. It helps to cleanse the digestive system and at the same time kick starts your metabolism so you can get that boost that you need straight away!

The reason that you need to start with warm water is that it is not a shock to your system. You can of course switch to cold water after this point, but ease into your day with warmer water to help your body wake up with you. Cold water for the remainder of your day has been shown to also raise your metabolic rate. The reason for this is that your body needs to use more energy to get the water up to your body temperature when it is ingested.

If you want to sweeten the deal, you can add some raw honey. This is a great way to add digestive enzymes and antioxidants to the mix!

  1. Eggs

Eggs have so many nutrients and they are a great way to get your metabolism into gear for the day. Having two eggs in the morning, cooked in any way you like, will give you the nutrition you need to start your day. They are packed full of protein, which is important for your metabolism. It will ensure that you feel fuller for longer, which will leave you more satisfied than any other breakfast food. You will also be burning calories as you go about your day, which is just a bonus!

There are other metabolism-boosting foods that you can add to your eggs in the morning. You can cook your eggs in coconut oil if you have access to it readily. This will just help you along towards kick-starting your metabolism and making sure that you get the right start to your day!

  1. Green Tea

Green tea has been marketed in many different ways as a superfood. It has been around for centuries, but only now are we taking into account the health benefits of this hot beverage. It can be taken in its pure form, but there are also many green tea-based supplements on the market that can have the same effect on your weight if you prefer.

Research has shown that green tea helps to stimulate the fat-burning process during periods of exercise and rest. It boosts your metabolism because of the EGCG, which is what is extracted and used in many diet pills. For the cheapest alternative, green tea in the leaf or tea bags is the best option. It is a calming way to begin your day and I find that this hot beverage has grown on me. Now I do not think I could start my day without it!

  1. Oatmeal

This breakfast food is very traditional, but it is also a great way to start up your metabolism for the day! It has a lot of fibre, which keeps you feeling full for longer, works to pass through your food via the digestive system and burns more calories too! It can be mixed with other metabolism-boosting foods, such as berries and almonds, to get the most out of your breakfast!

Other properties of oatmeal found in recent studies suggest that it can help to reduce blood sugar levels and assist in losing weight. It lowers your cholesterol so if you had any hesitation about your new breakfast go-to, there are a vast list of reasons you should make the switch! You should be wary if you have a gluten allergy or intolerance though, as you will not be able to reap the benefits as readily as those who do not suffer from such food sensitivity.

  1. Water

This seems so simple, but the vast majority of people do not consume enough water during the day. Your body can not function at its best, nor can your metabolism, when you do not keep it properly hydrated. It takes as little as 500mL, as found in one study which discovered that just 500mL of water can increase your metabolism by up to 30%. Drinking water before meals, including your breakfast, can help in the digestive process and also flush out toxins that we may consume in some capacity. Mineral water is a little higher in essential nutrients, so if you prefer you can make the switch. Any water increase during your day will help with your weight loss journey.
